I recently shot maternity photos for the lovely Malia Rose.  We shot at FD Photo Studio in Downtown Los Angeles and Malia got all of our fresh flowers from the DTLA Flower Market.  The first part of this shoot was inspired by the romanticism of the Old World Renaissance paintings and we wanted the images to have a soft romantic floral feel.  We were able to achieve this look with the Old World Stucco vibe of the studio we booked as well as with the floral arrangements and fabrics we used.  I used my vaseline trick (putting a very small amount of vaseline on a clear filter) to achieve a soft and glowy effect on the images.  For the second part of the shoot, we were inspired by Gigi Hadid’s recent maternity photos.  We used a sheer gauzy fabric and wet it down to enhance Malia’s belly.  And we used a light box to create a backlit effect.  While both shoots had slightly different inspiration, the use of fabrics was consistent throughout giving it a beautiful through line.
