This shoot was for Donald Pliner, a footwear company mainly for women but they also have mens shoes as well. This was a really fun shoot for their spring and summer ’21 line.  They wanted it to feel very retro, Palm Springs, desert vibes.  So we found a really cool house in Los Angeles called the Valley Capri House.  I’ve shot here many times before so I was familiar with the location going into the shoot, which was super helpful.  We mainly wanted to shoot outside by the pool, using their pool furniture that was very much mid-century modern.  Just really cool vibes.  And the pool scenes all worked out really well.  We had two female models and one male model and it was just really fun to incorporate them all in different poses.  Donald Pliner is a very cheeky brand that likes to do the unexpected and surprise you and they wanted this shoot to revive that brand messaging.  We incorporated this into the shoot by having the shoes floating in the water and having the models in the pool wearing the shoes.  I think it turned out so well.  This is one of my favorite commercial shoots that I’ve ever done for a client – ever.  It was just a really fun campaign to shoot and I look forward to shooting future campaigns for Donald Pliner.
